A village in the Papua New Guinea highlands, known simply as “the Island,” is almost entirely sustained by the growing and selling of marijuana. After living there for a year, Australian photographer Joel Bouchier created a polaroid photo series documenting the lives of the Kuka Boys, young boys who grow marijuana to make a living. “These photos capture the cultivation, consumption and protection of marijuana in this community,” explains Bouchier.
