Sorry NFL: Pot Is Now Part of the Tailgating Ritual
This football season in Denver, many fans are enjoying getting stoned before games, even though the Broncos (following in the NFL’s footsteps) have officially banned it from in and around their stadium. “Any form of marijuana consumption is prohibited on Sports Authority Field at Mile High property during public events, including in stadium parking lots,” says the team’s website. And that even includes edibles.

Study: Children Given Booze By Their Parents More Likely to Become Heavy Drinkers
Parents who give their teens alcohol to “teach” them responsible drinking (“cool” parents) might actually just be teaching their kids to love drinking. A new study from Australia finds that teens whose parents let them drink in early adolescence are three times more likely to drink full servings of alcohol by age 16, compared to those who had “lame” parents.

The Rise and Fall of the Biggest Pot Dealer in New York City History
The New York Times profiles French Canadian “playboy” Jimmy Cournoyer, who oversaw a massive operation growing and selling hydroponic pot. He worked for over a decade before he was busted by a disgruntled ex, and has just been sentenced to 27 years in federal prison. Claimed the prosecutor in his case: “in terms of his longevity and scope, and the connections he had around the world, nothing, nobody, comes close.”

Woman Gives an IV to a Teen With Alcohol Poisoning
Speaking of “cool” parents, a 37-year-old Idaho woman was willing to go to any lengths not to break up her teen son’s alcohol-fueled rager. So when a 14-year-old girl passed out from alcohol poisoning, instead of dialing 911, she administered an IV herself. She faces up to 10 years in prison.

Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Team Up to Produce a Promo Track for Weed Brand
“I gets my groove on. I do my thang. My planet’s Krypton, home of the freaks. Come get yo moon rocks. I am a G,” raps Snoop Dogg in the teaser for his new video with Pharrell, while gesturing to a jar of hash-oil-covered “rocks” of weed. The track is a promo for corporate branded marijuana, “Kurupt’s Moonrock,” which is sold at dispensaries in California.
